Cretia commenced her training at Caribbean School of Dancing where she achieved certifications from the RAD and ISTD. She has performed in a dance fellowship at Ballet Hispanico in New York City and with the Metamorphosis Dance Company. In 2011, Ms. Lewis completed her BFA at the University of the West Indies (Barbados).
Upon completion of her degree, she moved to New York City, where she trained at the reputable Ailey School and taught for South Asian Youth Association at different schools throughout the City. Her repertoire boasts performing with companies such as Pilar Castor Dance Ensemble and ASHA Dance Company.
She returned to Trinidad and taught at various primary schools and dance companies. During this time, she developed a passion for teaching. In 2017, she achieved certificates in Dance Education from the University of the West Indies (St. Augustine) and University of Bath, (RAD, London). Currently Cretia teaches at Caribbean School of Dancing, North West Laventille Cultural Movement and Holy Faith Convent, Couva. Presently, she is a member of Carib Dance and Astor Johnson Repertoire.
Cretia intends to build her individuality to become a well-rounded dancer both practically and theoretically. Her intentions are to share her passion for dance while educating others that dance is not solely about movement but learning to dance has benefits that foster social, emotional and creative development.
